BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — WEATHER IMPACT DAYS: Tuesday, March 10

Reason: Chance for severe, potentially dangerous storms on Tuesday evening heading into Wednesday.

The breakdown

Cloudy conditions persisted, but San Antonio largely got a break from rain to start the week.

That situation will soon change for the South-Central Texas region. Warm temperatures are setting the stage for heavy rain, gusty winds and hail across the region Tuesday and Wednesday.

Communities further west, including Rocksprings and Del Rio, face the most severe threat. The National Weather Service says that area is in a heightened Level 3 out of 5 risk for severe weather starting Tuesday evening and heading into early Wednesday morning. The major threats: large or very large hail, damaging wind gusts of up to 75 mph, heavy rainfall, and isolated tornadoes.

A Level 2 risk for strong storms has been announced for a slice of the Hill Country including Boerne and Kerrville, and stretching down to Uvalde and Eagle Pass. San Antonio and the Interstate 35 corridor face a Level 1 risk.

Much of the region also faces a marginal risk of excessive rainfall. The chances increase for portions of Sutton, Kimble, Schleicher, Menard and other counties located further north.
