Shaboozey, BigXthaPlug music video shoot halts Dallas traffic during rush hour

The two artists shut down Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge for a few minutes on Tuesday afternoon.

DALLAS — Think Dallas traffic is bad?

Drivers on the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge got a harsh reminder Tuesday around 5 p.m., when traffic came to a standstill — all for a music video shoot.

According to Dallas police, the bridge was closed for an “event permitted through the Office of Special Events.” Chopper footage showed police vehicles blocking all eastbound lanes, while several RVs and cars were staged in the area. Westbound traffic also backed up significantly during the closure.

Sources told WFAA the shoot was for a music video featuring country singer Shaboozey and rapper BigXthaPlug. The two were reportedly filming Shaboozey’s song “Highway.”

While BigXthaPlug isn’t featured on that particular song with Shaboozey, it’s not a surprise he was brought along for the video, as he is one of the most notable artists out of DFW right now.

BigXthaPlug, a Dallas native, has quickly risen in the rap scene with his deep voice and Southern style. Known for repping Oak Cliff, he gained national attention with his 2023 album AMAR.

The bridge shoot, while disruptive to evening commuters, adds to a growing list of high-profile productions filmed in DFW, which just further highlights the city’s influence on music and culture.
