Shaquille O’Neal is unimpressed with Spurs’ Wembanyama’s incredible outing vs. Dallas

Despite Wemby’s stellar performance against Dallas, Shaq taunted the Spurs center.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Spurs‘ Victor Wembanyama set a record against Dallas on opening night of the new season, recording 40 points, 15 rebounds, and zero turnovers. It was the most points scored by a Spur on opening night.

“I think he’s the best player in the league, so I expect that from him no matter who’s really matched up against him,” said guard Stephon Castle.

Wemby torched the Mavericks, scoring inside, outside, from the 3-point line, assisting his teammates, and finishing at the rim with spectacular dunks.

His performance lit up the entire basketball world, except for one former NBA center—Shaquille O’Neal.

During Inside the NBA on ESPN, Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith teased Shaq, saying he would not be able to stop Wemby on the floor.

“You can’t guard Wemby out there on the 3-point line,” said Barkley.

This led Shaq to say he would “eat” Wemby, with an interesting quip

“I’m not known for defense, you know what I’m known for? Eating French fries and French toast,” O’Neal snapped back.

O’Neal has a history of targeting other NBA bigs and throwing shade at them.

He’s also targeted Wemby before, saying he would make him “quit” playing against him, even though he says he is doing it to “inspire.”

At full health and adding some size in the offseason, many are anticipating more dominance, making him a threat on the court with all signs pointing to another All-Star nod this season and a sure lock for his first Defensive Player of the Year Award.
