SAN ANTONIO — Scary moments caught on camera show a south-side smoke shop employee held at gunpoint during a robbery this weekend.
Police say three men robbed the store early Sunday morning, while holding the employee at gunpoint. At one point a shot was fired nearly hitting the employee in the head.
The surveillance video shows the suspects entering the Potheads Dispensary on Pleasanton Road, near Southwest Military Dr, around 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning armed with a gun.
Leann Gonzalez is the manager of the store, she was not there during the robbery, but says it all started when the man pretended the door to the store was jammed.
“When she went to open it for him he like grabbed her by her neck and like put the gun straight to her head,” Gonzalez said
Gonzalez says the employee tried to fight back, but she ended up being pushed to the ground, and dragged towards the door.
“Then he had to hit her in the back of the head with the gun,” Gonzalez said.
The employee didn’t want to talk on camera but believes the man fired a shot near her head to keep her still. She says she remembers a ringing in her ear, and smelling the gun powder.
The gunshot left a hole in the tile.
“So, like it really could have hit her. She really could have lost her life,” Gonzalez said.
Police say a second suspect entered the store and started grabbing items and cash, while a third suspect waited in a getaway car.
So far, none of the men have been found.
“We need justice,” Gonzalez said.
The employee who was robbed says she is still shaken up over the robbery. She was back at work Monday and says everytime the door opened it scared her.
