Shooting in northeast San Antonio leaves one critically injured, police say

It is unclear at this time what led up to the shooting or if there are any suspects in custody.

SAN ANTONIO — A man was hospitalized an argument among several people ended in gunfire on the northeast side Thursday afternoon, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

Officers were called around 3:07 p.m. to the 4800 block of Ray Bon Drive, where police said several males had gathered when an argument broke out. During the confrontation, gunfire erupted and one man was shot in the stomach area, according to SAPD.

The victim was transported to a hospital as a priority-one patient. Police said it was unclear how many times the man was shot.

The suspect fled east from the location on foot, walking between nearby buildings, according to SAPD. Authorities said there were several witnesses at the scene.

Investigators have not determined what led to the argument, and no arrests have been reported.

The investigation remains ongoing, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
