Shop for a Cause | San Antonio Pets Alive! opens ‘Second Chance’ Thrift Store to help shelter pets

Bargain hunting just got even better. A new thrift store on the west side is opening Feb. 26 and every purchase helps save homeless dogs and cats in San Antonio.

SAN ANTONIO — If you love a good thrift find and helping animals, this might be your new favorite spot in San Antonio.

San Antonio Pets Alive! is opening its brand-new Second Chance Thrift Store on Thursday, Feb. 26, and every dollar spent will go directly toward saving homeless cats and dogs across the city.

Think of it as retail therapy… with a rescue mission.

The grand opening kicks off at 10:15 a.m. with remarks from SAPA! CEO Bob Citrullo, former Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Bexar County Clerk Lucy Adame-Clark. An official ribbon cutting follows at 11 a.m., and doors open for shoppers at noon.

The store, located at 8336 Marbach Road, is stocked with men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, toys, home décor, household goods, and of course, pet supplies and accessories.

Organizers say the concept is simple: donate gently used items, shop for hidden treasures, and help fund life-saving medical care, shelter and adoptions for thousands of animals.

“This thrift store serves as a vital bridge between our mission and the community,” Citrullo said. “Every dollar spent here goes directly toward the care, medical treatment and rehoming of the animals in our care.”

After the grand opening, the store will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., welcoming both shoppers and donors.

So if you’ve been meaning to clean out your closet, or you’re on the hunt for your next great find, this might be your chance to give back while you’re at it.

Because at this store, every purchase truly gives pets a second chance. 🐾
