Sluggers from Richmond are heading to the Little League World Series

Lamar Little League beat Louisiana Tuesday in Waco to advance to Williamsport.

WACO, Texas — The sluggers from Richmond are heading to the Little League World Series!

Lamar Little League, representing Texas, beat a team from Louisiana 5-2 in Waco on Tuesday night to advance to Williamsport.

The game changed in the top of the fifth when Joseph Miller’s bases-loaded ground ball put Lamar up 3-2.

Brayden Carlisle went 4 2/3 innings for Lamar and got the win, on the mound.

Lamar will now represent the Southwest Region as they try to bring a world championship back to Fort Bend County.

For Lamar Little League, this is its first time back in Williamsport since they went in 2003 and 2004.  They’re also the first team to earn a spot in the Little League World Series this year.

The Little League World Series runs from Wednesday, August 13, through Sunday, August 24.
