George Gervin looks at the Spurs’ young players as key to the franchise’s rebuild.
SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Spurs‘ Jeremy Sochan is heading to Phoenix.
No, not to the Suns because of a trade, but to prepare for the upcoming EuroBasket Tournament, where he will be playing for Team Poland.
According to a report, the Spurs forward will undergo two-a-day practices before joining Team Poland later this summer.
“Looking to the next summer, I think we need to prepare better mentally and physically. We need to be ready,” he said in a message posted by Team Poland.
His recent play was at the Olympic Qualifying Tournament, where Sochan averaged 18.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game.
ICEMAN TALKS THE SPURS REBUILD
Spurs legend George “Iceman” Gervin was a guest on Fan Duel TV’s “Run It Back,” and he touched on how the team should proceed in its current rebuild.
“You got to build a solid foundation,” he said. “They (Spurs) got a good nucleus to put something together.”
Said Gervin: “The old era is gone. No LeBron (James), no Steph(Stephen Curry), no (Kevin) Durant. They got the young fellas now.”
The Spurs will have an interesting offseason.
Considering their war chest of draft assets, roster players, and financial space, the team could seek to bring in a top player to help propel the team.
Kevin Durant is the biggest name many hear linked to the Spurs, but will the Spurs be willing to pay a steep price and trade key young players to the Suns?
