Social media posts help police make arrest in deadly northeast side stabbing

Police say social media posts helped investigators identify and arrest a man accused of fatally stabbing another man during a northeast-side fight.

SAN ANTONIO — A Northeast Side man is facing a murder charge after San Antonio police say social media posts helped connect him to a deadly stabbing outside a local emergency room.

According to an arrest affidavit,  Patrick Hernandez was arrested in connection with the death of a man who was stabbed Monday afternoon during a fight involving several people.

Police say officers were called to Prestige Emergency Room on Stahl Road after witnesses drove the victim there for treatment. Investigators say the man had been stabbed in the chest and died before he could make it inside the facility.

Witnesses told police the confrontation involved Hernandez, his girlfriend, another woman and the victim. According to the affidavit, the victim allegedly struck one of the women in the face with a skateboard during the altercation.

Police say Hernandez then stabbed the man before leaving the scene.

Investigators later reviewed social media posts allegedly made by Hernandez after the stabbing. According to the arrest affidavit, one post included a photo of the victim after he had been stabbed along with an expletive-filled message. A second post reportedly showed a bloody knife in what appeared to be Hernandez’s hand and included claims that he acted in self-defense.
