A 6-year-old autistic boy and a 3-year-old girl are dead after their mother says she found them in a hot car on Saturday, Sheriff Salazar said.
SAN ANTONIO — The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said a mother is now facing charges after she allegedly found her two children dead in a hot car outside of their San Antonio home.
Around 4 p.m., BCSO responded to the 7611 block of Chancery Gate after receiving reports of two children dead after being found in a hot car.
When the responding deputy arrived, the children were unconscious in the home and he immediately began performing life-saving measures
Despite their efforts, the 6-year-old autistic boy and 3-year-old girl were pronounced dead on the scene.
BCSO says the mother, Tiona Islar, told investigators the last time she said she saw them was when they got home and she took them inside. She added that the kids must’ve went somehow gone back out to the car somehow.
This led authorities to say there were enough evidence and inconsistencies in her story for them to take her in for questioning.
Authorities say Islar is facing charges of injury to a child. The sheriff says there may have been a history of issues with law enforcement and the family.
BCSO is asking for anyone with information about this case including video of the area around the time between 10 am and 3 pm to give them a call.
This is an ongoing investigation.
