The San Antonio Spurs’ legendary head coach had a medical incident Tuesday night, almost five months after suffering a stroke, a source tells KENS 5.
SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs’ Hall of Fame head coach Gregg Popovich was transported in an ambulance after suffering from a “medical incident” Tuesday night, a source tells KENS 5’s Nate Ryan.
ESPN also reported the news, saying Popovich was seen outside a San Antonio restaurant following the incident.
Tuesday’s incident comes just months after he suffered from a mild stroke that forced him to miss a large portion of the 2024-2025 NBA season.
The first episode occurred at the Frost Bank Center on Nov. 2, a day before the Spurs’ game against Minnesota. Popovich started a rehabilitation program and, at the time, was expected to make a full recovery.
In February, it was reported that Popovich’s season was over and his future coaching the Spurs was uncertain.
On April 15, Popovich reportedly was seen leaving a restaurant in an ambulance after police received a report that someone had “fainted,” but is now “home, stable and doing fine.”
KENS 5 has contacted the team, but there has been no response to the request for comment.
KENS 5 will update this story as more information becomes available.
