According to San Antonio police officials, a housekeeper called police about the killing. A suspect was arrested in Kimble County, but he hasn’t been identified.
SAN ANTONIO — A murder investigation is underway after law enforcement said a 78-year-old man was found stabbed to death inside his Stone Oak home on the far north side.
Officials with the San Antonio Police Department called it a “high-profile” crime. A law enforcement source told KENS 5 the victim is Edward Ronald Acosta, the Las Palapas restaurant founder better known as Ron Acosta.
Police are still working to determine a motive.
The incident happened in the 19200 block of Reata Trail, where authorities responded to on Tuesday morning. Authorities believe the 39-year-old suspect, who is currently in custody and not from Texas, may be related to Acosta.
SAPD Chief William McManus, speaking at the scene, said an argument escalated inside the home before the suspect allegedly attacked and fatally stabbed the elderly man.
“The housekeeper called,” McManus said. “She was the other person in the house at the time. The victim lived here by himself.”
According to a preliminary police report, the housekeeper “stated there was blood all around (the victim) and she can’t control the bleeding.”

The suspect was later arrested in Kimble County, where he was stopped on a highway by law enforcement while “possibly leaving the state,” SAPD’s preliminary report says.
“There’s no danger to the community from this event,” McManus said, adding the victim lived by himself in the home.
A large group of investigators and police personnel could be seen in the area through Tuesday afternoon, with security tape lining the property the crime is believed to have occurred in.
Authorities emphasized the information could change as the investigation evolves.
This is a developing story.
