SAN ANTONIO — Police are entering hour four of a south-side standoff that began when a middle-aged man arrived at a home and started threatening those inside with a knife, authorities say.
SWAT team members as well as negotiators with the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) are at the scene on the 1200 block of West Harlan, where officers first arrived around 3 p.m., according to Sgt. Ricardo Guzman. People inside the home told police the unidentified suspect arrived and started acting “erratically” with the knife; police say the residence isn’t his home, but he has “known acquaintances” inside.
Those inside were able to escape, Guzman said, leaving the suspect alone inside.
“Not sure how long this could go,” Guzman said. “For everyone’s safety, we’re going to be out here until the situation resolves.
The suspect is identified only as a man believed to be in his 50s.
