BEAUMONT, Texas — A 30-year-old Southeast Texas man was sentenced to 20 years in prison Tuesday after pleading guilty to aggravated sexual assault of a child in Jefferson County’s 252nd District Court.
David Lance Tillman Jr., 30, appeared before Judge Raquel West and entered a guilty plea to the charge. West immediately sentenced him to two decades behind bars.
The defendant faced a potential sentence ranging from five to 99 years or life in prison, plus a fine of up to $10,000 if he had been convicted at trial.
In a separate matter, Tillman also pleaded guilty to violating his probation on a previous felony conviction for being a felon in possession. Judge West sentenced him to an additional 10 years for the probation violation.
The sentences will run concurrently, meaning Tillman will serve both terms simultaneously rather than consecutively.
Defense attorney Marvin Lewis represented Tillman, while prosecutor Preston Hoffpauir handled the case for the state. The victim’s identity was not disclosed in court proceedings.
The hearing concluded Tillman’s case without the need for a trial due to his guilty pleas on both charges.
