SAN ANTONIO — A community-wide event at Southwest Legacy High School this Saturday is set to bring together far more than just car enthusiasts.
Organizers say the upcoming car show is designed as a multi-purpose initiative aimed at connecting students and families with job opportunities, essential services and educational support.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature a variety of employers actively recruiting and engaging with attendees.
Participating organizations include the City of San Antonio Workforce Development division, Cavender Toyota, SA Worx and Goodwill Industries. Representatives will be on site to provide information about job openings and career pathways, with a particular emphasis on connecting students to real-world opportunities.
In addition to workforce opportunities, the event will also provide access to vital community resources. Licensed social workers and local partners will be available to assist families with services such as food assistance, rental support and mental health care. A highlight of the event is the participation of Southwest ISD Cares, a program dedicated to providing free mental health services to students and their families.
While the car show serves as the centerpiece, it also functions as a fundraiser for the school’s automotive program. Funds raised will go toward purchasing equipment needed to better prepare students for careers in the automotive field. School clubs will also participate, using the event as an opportunity to raise funds for their own programs.
Attendees can expect a lively, family-friendly atmosphere throughout the day, with live performances by students including mariachi groups, dancers and singers. Organizers encourage owners of both classic and modern vehicles, as well as motorcycles, to register and take part in the show.
The event is from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. at 4495 SW Verano Parkway, which is the Legacy High School parking lot.
