50,000 kids and families filled NRG Stadium Saturday night to watch monster trucks race each other and do backflips as part of Monster Jam.
HOUSTON — Rev your engines, Houston! Monster Jam is back in town!
50,000 people packed into NRG Stadium Saturday night to watch massive monster trucks race each other and soar high into the sky. Among the most excited fans were the crowds of young kids who came to watch the show.
This was 8-year-old Joshua Castenea’s 15th Monster Jam visit – and he even had a certificate to prove it. His favorite part?
“When a monster truck does a backflip,” Castenea said, adding that those tricks are “100 percent cool.”
Joshua’s older sister Genesis Samaniego said she loves to come with her brother to Monster Jam.
“It’s really fun, just a really memorable time, spending time with the family and we always come in February, all the time in February and October,” Samaniego said.
Monster Jam has also become a tradition for 4-year-old Colton Craig and his father Jason.
“It’s awesome. He loves it. So, we watch it all the time. He has all the monster trucks. Plays with them every day, so we love it. It’s something we do every year now,” Jason said.
Colton added his favorite part is when the monster trucks are “doing backflips.”
10-year-old twins Gabriela and Mariela De La Cuesta had trouble pinpointing their favorite part of Monster Jam.
“It’s the energy, the life, the things come to life magically,” Mariela said.
They have been coming to shows for a long time, and they love every second of it.
“I like everything about it. I like that they, I like the excitement when they do the tricks, and like after they do the tricks on the screen, they do like content for the kid things, and I like to eat the popcorn during the thing and it’s just so awesome,” Gabriela said. “The first time I watched the monster jam, I was glued to my seat, it was fun.”
Saturday was 6-year-old Moussa Mohamed’s first Monster Jam experience. He couldn’t get enough of the action.
“I liked how they were jumping,” Mohamed said. “It’s really fun because I’ve never been to one of these before. And my dad thought that I wouldn’t be excited, but I’m really excited.”
The excitement is not over yet! Monster Jam continues on Sunday, Feb. 2 and then again on Saturday, Feb. 8.
