BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — A property owner in far southwest Bexar County says hundreds of students attended a prom afterparty on his property.
But he says he didn’t give anyone permission and the teens were charging $10 for partygoers to get in.
Now the property owners say they want the organizers to face consequences for their actions.
The property owners said chaos unfolded after the teens were caught trespassing.
They say it was just after 11 p.m. Saturday night when relatives of the property owners noticed hundreds of cars lined along the roadway on Ladd Road in far south Bexar County.
The homeowners we spoke with didn’t want to be on camera but say relatives confronted the teens.
“She’s like ‘Private property, everybody needs to go. Cops are on the way,’ and then it just spiraled out of control,” said Madison Howard.
While waiting for authorities, the property owners say some of the teens were getting aggressive.
“Once the party got broken up a little bit, those kids were ready to fight. They didn’t want to leave. They were like ‘We paid to be here,’” said Howard.
Some teens told the property owners they paid $10 via Cash App to attend the party.
The property owners also say authorities had their hands full with so many teens at the party so they kept calling for backup, other agencies showed up to help.
“(I) told them I needed more people, get more officers out here. There wasn’t enough because these kids could have swamped them,” said property owner W.A. Rohmer.
Even with the additional officers help, the property owners say the teens continued to make threats and used derogatory language.
“Kids were yelling at her. The one kid threatened her. Kids were threatening them, him and my grandma,” said Howard.
The land is used for farming and crops had just been planted that day. The property owners say with all the traffic, some of the land was damaged which will make harvesting the crops more difficult.
“The worst part is the littering. All the trash, the glass breakage. They broke whiskey bottles, beer bottles,” said Rohmer.
The property owners say students from area schools attended the party and were told it was their prom night.
They want the students responsible for organizing the party to be caught and plan on pressing charges.
“Just so that at the end of the day, they have repercussions for their actions,” said Howard.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is the lead agency in this investigation. If you have any information about the party, you can contact them at 210-335-6000.
