Spring Break at the Science Mill brings hands-on STEM fun and Pi Day to Johnson City

Families can explore the “Math Universe” with hands-on STEM activities, fractals, galaxies and Pi Day celebrations at the Science Mill through March 21.

JOHNSON CITY, Texas — If your Spring Break plans include curious kids and a little brain power, the Science Mill in Johnson City is turning math into a full-on adventure.

The museum’s Spring Break “Math Universe” runs March 11 through March 21, giving visitors a chance to dive into dozens of hands-on STEM activities designed to make numbers fun.

Kids can explore how math shows up in everyday life, from the Golden Ratio found in art and architecture to spirals hidden in pinecones, snowflakes and even galaxies.

Visitors can also experiment with fractals, geometric patterns inspired by nature and challenges that explain big concepts like relativity, gravity and what it means to travel at the speed of light.

The celebration ramps up on Pi Day (March 14), when the museum hosts a full day of activities inspired by the famous mathematical number — with puzzles, patterns and interactive experiments.

Beyond the special programming, the Science Mill will also have its regular lineup of more than 50 exhibits open, covering topics like robotics, fossils, chemistry, plants and energy.

The nonprofit museum is located at 101 South Lady Bird Lane in Johnson City, and tickets and daily schedules are available online.
