Spring firefighters rescue elderly woman, pets from house fire

A pig, dog and cat were also pulled from the burning home.

SPRING, Texas — Spring firefighters battled multiple house fires on a busy afternoon Saturday, pulling an immobile elderly woman and several animals from a burning home in Old Town Spring.

The rescue took place at a house fire off Brandt Road near Old Town Spring, according to the Spring Fire Department. Firefighters also rescued a dog, a cat, and a pig from the residence.

The fire created additional challenges due to a lack of fire hydrants in the area, forcing tankers to be called in for additional water supply.

Harris County ESD 11 medics transported the elderly woman to a nearby hospital. South Montgomery County firefighters provided mutual aid during the incident.
