Here’s a sample of what the Spurs and Pistons said after the game.
Mitch Johnson:
“I thought it was a really competitive game. Very physical. We made some shots early, and they reminded us very quickly that it wasn’t going to be about that tonight. I thought we settled in very appropriately at times during the game. I thought a few times there was a physicality, a contact, a touching sequence, moment, or situation – I thought we responded appropriately at times.”
Wembanyama:
“The whole game, everybody was connected offensively, and it shows. We got six players shooting more than 10 shots. Everybody got to eat tonight because we were so connected, because we were trying to fight against the wall the whole game.”
“I think we can play against all types of teams. Whatever team plays fast, whatever team plays slow, I think we can play in a lot of different varieties. Coming into the game, we knew it was going to be a physical game, so we [tried] to match that and be the aggressor in that, and I thought we did a good job doing it.”
Coach JB Bickerstaff:
“It wasn’t just [Stephon Castle]. You should see there – they had five guys dialed into [Cunningham], trying to limit what Cade could do and his impact. But we’ll go back and watch the film. We’ve got [San Antonio] next week. We’ll be prepared.”
