Here’s a sample of what the Spurs and Wizards said after the game.

Mitch Johnson:

“Just not as consistent as we like, but again, we got it done.”

“I haven’t given it much thought yet, but obviously they (Thunder) are the reigning champs and are who they are,” he said regarding upcoming games versus the Thunder. “So I’m expecting a very competitive, high-level game.”

“I think it’s just a good sign of growth, obviously just trying to build things and stack games like that. So that’s great to get a win,” he said to FanDuel. “I think a lot of it for us is just trying to just make the easy play and make each other better. And then I think what we’re doing then defense is rotating a little bit. It’s a little easier to clean up inside and stuff.”

“I mean just always solid. I feel like his (Kornet) baseline is just to be solid every single night. I mean, you know what you’re going to expect from him. When they (Wizards) started to come back a little bit, he stepped up big.”

“I think we need to be better in the second half. We gave away a 20-point lead. You don’t want to end up being in a dog fight. Things happen in this league. It’s an NBA team. We came out in that second quarter, we hit them, and they responded coming out at halftime.”
