Here’s what Mitch Johnson, Jeremy Sochan and De’Aaron Fox said following the team’s home win over Dallas.
SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Dallas Mavericks 126-116 at home, snapping their three-game losing skid.
De’Aaron Fox scored 32 points and 11 assists, Keldon Johnson scored 18 points, and Chris Paul had nine points and nine assists.
Devin Vassell added 16 points and six rebounds. Stephon Castle finished with eight, and Harrison Barnes recorded 14. Jeremy Sochan added 18 points and seven rebounds.
Victor Wembanyama will miss the remainder of the season due to deep vein thrombosis, and Charles Bassey did not play due to injuries.
The Spurs are 27-37 this season and will take on the Hornets Friday night in San Antonio.
Here’s a sample of what the Spurs said after the game.
Mitch Johnson:
“There were nine guys that could have finished that game. And I mean that as a compliment to them. And the more they do that, as frustrated as it may be for some of them, they did a great job.”
“The main thing is defensively. That was the main point for us. And I think we emphasize on that side, especially in the second half, communication, being aggressive, known personnel, and we stuck to it.”
“With some of the best teams in the league, you have to be a good defensive team, because that’s what you have to hang your hat on. You could be a really good offensive team but when the ball doesn’t go in that night, what can you do? And those are the teams that struggle. So we know we have to be a better defensive team to try to be consistent on that end.”
