Spurs 130, Grizzlies 128: What they said after the game

The Spurs wrap up the Rodeo Trip with a win in Memphis.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs beat the Memphis Grizzlies 130-128 to finish the Rodeo Trip. The Spurs went 4-8 on the extended road trip.

De’Aaron Fox finished with 20 points (including the game-winner) and three rebounds. Keldon Johnson finished with 15 points. Chris Paul had eight and eight assists.

Devin Vassell recorded 20 and six rebounds, and Jeremy Sochan added 18 and 11 rebounds. Stephon Castle finished with 24, and Julian Champagnie added 14. Harrison Barnes recorded five.

The Spurs bench outscored the Grizzlies’ reserves 71-41, which is the most bench points scored by a Grizzlies opponent this season.

Victor Wembanyama will miss the remainder of the season due to deep vein thrombosis, and Charles Bassey did not play due to an ankle injury.

The Spurs are 25-33 this season and will take on the Thunder on Sunday night in San Antonio.

“We were at 113 to 102, and I was extremely proud of them, just for the response and the fight to adversity.”

“I thought the guys showed a lot of fortitude during that time of resilience and happy for them.”

“Obviously, the game is a game of swings, but a lot of times you lose a lead like that, and then it’s hard for a team to fight back and respond. I think we might have given up the lead, but it was never anything other than a one-possession game, and I think we responded pretty well, especially being able to finish the game.”
