Here’s a sample of what the Spurs and Knicks said after the game.

Mitch Johnson:

“I thought we were not very good for a lot of stretches in the first half. And the competitive response and the energy that we were putting as the game went on into the right areas. We felt it. And I think that team (Knicks) is very physical and competitive, and if you don’t match that, along with sharp execution, they can systematically wear you down at times.”

“I was just extremely proud of the guys that stepped up tonight, and especially that group in the fourth quarter that we need people to have days, and not every day is everyone’s day, and when it’s your day, you need to step up and pick your teammate up. And when it’s not your day, you got to figure out still.”

Wembanyama:

“It felt a little bit weird. I know what it hurts. The good thing is, it was just a hyperextension. So it should be minimal. The thing is, yeah, we’re going to do everything tomorrow still to check that everything’s okay.”

“Just shows how resourceful these guys are, you know, how deep the team is as well, because it’s never like the same guys. It’s never the same guy from night to night.”

Champagnie:

“Rebounds, playing hard, physicality, obviously, the refs will let us play a little. Let us play a little bit. So whenever they’re doing that, it kind of works in our favor, because now we can just dig into guys and get into them. So that was kind of the whole mindset behind it was just to play hard.”

“Coming here from Philly. I had no clue what was going to happen. It was kind of just a long shot, long way from home. Let’s see if you can make this work. I’m still here, so trying to make it work.”

“We got momentum, and we ride that momentum as much as possible. We started to get stops a little bit. Just ride that out. Whenever we got stops, that’s when our offense got better.”
