The Spurs have signed Stanley Umude to a training camp deal, bringing their roster to 20 players.
SAN ANTONIO — Ahead of the start of the San Antonio Spurs training camp, the team has added guard Stanley Umude to an Exhibit-10/training camp deal. The San Antonio roster is now at 20.
The 26-year-old guard went undrafted in 2022 and spent the first two years with Detroit.
He spent last season with Milwaukee, averaging 3.9 minutes, but with the Bucks’ G League team, the Wisconsin Herd, he recorded 18.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.6 steals per game while shooting 43.6% from the field and 37% from the three-point line.
He’ll likely be Austin Spurs-bound once the season begins due to the team’s crowded guard rotation.
NEW USA VS. THE WORLD TOURNAMENT COMING TO ALL-STAR WEEKEND
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the NBA will experiment with a new All-Star Game format, featuring a round-robin tournament with three eight-man teams: two Team U.S.A. squads and one World squad, which could include the Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama (France).
This has been something fans and the players have been wanting for years, and it seems to be nearing a reality.
Note that the details are not yet finalized, but this could be something that will inject life into the All-Star Game, which has been criticized for being boring and just a game with players playing for nothing at stake.
