Spurs announce basketball operations promotions, additions

The San Antonio Spurs promoted several staff members and added new hires in their basketball operations team.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs announced several promotions and additions among basketball operations.

Promoted to GM Brian Wright’s staff will be Hao Meng, Niraj Mulji and Dave Telep to assistant general manager roles.

Acording to the Spurs, Meng previously served as the team’s senior director of strategic analysis and basketball insight from 2022-25, after serving as director of the same department during the 2021–22 season. Mulji enters his 12th season with the Spurs, most recently serving as senior director of basketball strategy since the 2022–23 season. Telep, now in his 13th season with the Spurs, most recently served as vice president of basketball operations, following a three-year stint as director of player personnel from 2019-22 and director of scouting from 2016-19.

Xavi Schelling has been elevated to vice president of performance & wellness, while Adam Glessner (player personnel), Samson Kayode (scouting), Josh Fink (data science), Nick Repole (research & design) and Phil Cullen (basketball organizational development) have each been promoted to associate vice president. Brandon Leibsohn has been named chief of staff, Charlie Stevens is now director of grassroots scouting, Josh Ryan has been promoted to manager of basketball information systems, and Kevin Xu becomes principal engineer and Austin Spurs analytics coordinator. The Spurs have also added Victor Azalbert as senior sports scientist and Jonathan Dickey as physical therapist.

The Spurs will hold Media Day 2025 on Monday with several players set to take the stage to talk about the upcoming season including Stephon Castle, De’Aaron Fox, Victor Wembanyama, Dylan Harper, Jeremy Sochan, Keldon Johnson and Devin Vassell.
