Spurs announce new partnership with Ledger, a French crypto security company

The Spurs will be sporting a new patch on their iconic Silver & Black jerseys next season.

SAN ANTONIO — The Spurs will be sporting a new patch on their jerseys next season as they have announced a partnership with a French crypto security company.

In a news conference, the team introduced Ledger, a hardware crypto wallet based in Paris, France, as their newest partner.

According to their website, Ledger “stores your private keys in a secure, offline environment giving you peace of mind and complete control over your assets.”

They also say they are the “the world leader in digital asset security for consumers and enterprises.”

Ledger officials say they employ 650 employees and have sold 8 million devices in 180 countries and more than 10 languages.

Pascal Gauthier, the CEO of the company, said he said no to all other sports partnerships, but Tony Parker and Victor Wembanyama being associated with the Spurs made him want to pursue a partnership with the team.

The multi-year agreement “marks a defining moment in the Spurs’ continued evolution from legacy franchise to formative brand,” the team said in its news release.

“This moment cements a decades-long history of international collaboration and growth by the Spurs organization, as the game of basketball has grown to touch every culture and continent,” said RC Buford, CEO of Spurs Sports & Entertainment. “Ledger has led the way in the digital asset space, having helped to build the industry from the ground up. With this international collaboration, we are proud to stand alongside them as we connect the next generation of fans and leaders around the world.”

Harrison Barnes and Keldon Johnson appeared at the event to show off the new jerseys.

The jerseys will debut at the NBA Draft on Wednesday.
