SAN ANTONIO — The Harrison and Brittany Barnes Community Fund unveiled two fully renovated multipurpose courts in Saltillo, Mexico, completing their three-city court refurbishment initiative launched this year. It pays homage to Mexico’s support for the San Antonio Spurs.
In addition to restoring the two multipurpose courts, construction of concrete bleachers, restoration of the plaza’s foundation, and improvements to the surrounding ecology were also undertaken. The courts will also feature a new mural depicting Harrison.
Following the ceremony, Spurs Sports Academy led a basketball clinic with local youth players from the top five teams in Saltillo.
“Mexico’s people and culture hold such a special place in my heart, and in the heart of the Spurs organization,” said Harrison Barnes in a release. “As the sister city of Austin, the connections between Saltillo and South Texas are undeniable, so Brittany and I are grateful for the opportunity to further bridge our communities and help contribute to Mayor Díaz’s mission to transform these outdoor spaces. Gracias, Saltillo, por el cálido abrazo y por hacernos sentir en casa.”

SPURS SET TO TARGET YABUSELE?
The Spurs are reportedly expected to have interest in adding 76ers’ offseason free agent Guerschon Yabusele via HoopsHype.
The big man would help the Spurs’ need for added size to pair with Victor Wembanyama, and he is his fellow French countryman.
The 76ers do have Yabusele’s bird rights, but San Antonio has the cap space to entice the big man to come to the Spurs.
Yabusele (16th pick in the 2016 NBA Draft) averaged 11.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and shot 50 percent from the field last season.
