SAN ANTONIO — A Spurs rookie will be competing in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest for the second year in a row.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Carter Bryant has accepted an invitation to compete in the Slam Dunk Contest during this year’s NBA All-Star Weekend in LA. Charania also announced the Lakers’ Jaxson Hayes will also be competing.
In 37 games this season, Bryant has dunked the ball four times as a rookie. He’s averaged 2.5 points, 1.7 rebounds on 35.1% shooting from the field and 26.4% from three-point range in limited minutes.
Stephon Castle competed in the contest last season as a rookie, losing to 3-time winner Mac McClung. While not competing in the dunk contest, Castle along with Dylan Harper will be playing on Team Melo in the Rising Stars competition that same weekend.
Bryant and Hayes are the only two players announced at this time. Normally there are four spots in the competition.
