SAN ANTONIO — Julian Champagnie of the San Antonio Spurs recently visited Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland to meet with members of the 37th Training Wing and show his support for the Air Force.
The Spurs forward toured the 44th Training Squadron Hangar, sat in a helicopter, and signed autographs for service members. This player base visit is a tradition the Spurs and USAA have had since the 2015-16 season, giving the team a better understanding and appreciation for service members.
NEW WEMBY CARD HAS A PIECE OF THE ACTUAL BASKETBALL FROM HIS RECENT MILESTONE
Topps is celebrating Wembanyama’s recent 500th career block shot milestone with a one-of-one, ultra-rare, autographed card featuring the date of the moment and a piece of the actual basketball that the Spurs center blocked on that historic night.
But good luck finding it, it’s been placed inside one pack, and you can imagine just how much money it will fetch for the lucky person who has it in their card pack.
And in case you missed it, Wemby got his 500th block versus the Thunder’s Chet Holmgren.
It’s been a block party for the Spurs center. From 2023-25, he blocked a shot in 101 straight games, a Spurs franchise record and the longest streak by any NBA player since Dikembe Mutombo’s from 1994-95 to 1995-96.
He is the second-youngest player in NBA history to reach 500 blocks, and the fourth-fastest ever to do so, at 143 games. He’s also the first player to reach 500 blocks in fewer than 150 career games since David Robinson.
