Spurs’ De’Aaron Fox questionable for Game 5 vs. Timberwolves with left ankle soreness, injury report says

Fox has been averaging 16.8 points and four assists in four games in this second round series against the Timberwolves.

SAN ANTONIO — The Spurs may be without their starting point guard Tuesday as he deals with an ankle injury.

According to Monday’s injury report, De’Aaron Fox is questionable for Game 5 with left ankle soreness. Fox has been averaging 16.8 points and four assists in four games in this Timberwolves series. He’s also coming off his strongest game in Game 4, putting up 24 points mostly after Victor Wembanyama was ejected.

Fox went down with the injury with about 7:42 left in the third quarter in Game 4. He was able to reenter and finish the game, but his injury status points to him not being 100% even then.

If Fox doesn’t play, rookie Dylan Harper is likely to start in his place in Game 5. Harper is also coming off his strongest game in the series with 24 points and seven rebounds. He’s averaged 15.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists in the series against the Timberwolves.

KENS 5 will continue to track Fox’s status for Game 5, which is set to tip off at 7 p.m. Tuesday on NBC and Peacock.
