Spurs fans go honking downtown after NBA Cup win over Thunder; Spurs hosting NBA Cup Finals watch party

San Antonio Spurs fans revived a cherished tradition.

SAN ANTONIO — Following the San Antonio Spurs‘ 111-109 win over the Thunder in the 2025 NBA Cup West Semifinals in Las Vegas, silver and black fans showed up in downtown San Antonio to do something they have not done in years: Celebrate a big team win honking down Commerce Street.

The moment was captured by resident Claryssa Pacheco and shared on social media as cars were back-to-back in downtown, clogging the street, with one fan waving a Spurs jersey from his vehicle.

Honking down Commerce Street is a tradition among fans after big wins in big games. This was commonplace when the Spurs were piling up NBA titles during the Tim Duncan era and during playoff series wins.

It’s been a long time since fans have had a good reason to go honking downtown, and hopefully, there will be more moments to celebrate like this soon.
