Here’s how you can still nab San Antonio’s newest City Edition line.
SAN ANTONIO — The highly anticipated return of the Spurs’ Fiesta jersey alternates – featuring the beloved cursive “San Antonio” font and stripes of teal, pink and orange – had The Rock at La Cantera buzzing on Tuesday afternoon.
The launch party, featuring raffles, food and music, didn’t start until 4 p.m., but the first fans inside said they had been waiting for a couple hours to make sure they grabbed a Fiesta jersey for their favorite player.
“Been in line since 1:30 p.m. That’s what we do,” said one young fan who came away with two jerseys. “Anything for Victor, anything for Stephon Castle.”
“Wem-V-P, baby!” chanted another fan, echoing the popular mantra often heard during star player Victor Wembanyama’s strong start to the season.
Fans of all ages made their way into the fan shop, where they were able to nab not only the new Fiesta City Edition jerseys, but bright teal long-sleeved warmups as well. Outside, more Spurs fans lined up to take part in raffles and trivia, and to catch a glimpse of the beloved Spurs Coyote.
The good news: If you didn’t go to the launch party, you didn’t miss out on your chance to get a Fiesta-themed jersey; they’re available via the Spurs’ online store. At the same time, new City Edition jerseys tend to be more limited in nature and harder to find once the season they released in ends (although last year’s white-and-cream-colored editions are still for sale on the Spurs fan shop website).
The premiere versions of the Fiesta jerseys – dubbed the “Authentic” line – will run you $269.99, while the more affordable “Swingman” line costs $149.99 (before taxes).
