Spurs make roster moves; Spurs celebrate World Basketball Day

The San Antonio Spurs signed Stanley Umude, a Warren High School alum.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs have signed guard Stanley Umude to a Two-Way contract. and have waived Kyle Mangas.

 Umude played 11 games with the Austin Spurs across the Tip-Off Tournament and regular season, averaging 20.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 35.8 minutes. He most recently scored a season-high 34 points versus Stockton on Dec. 19.

The San Antonio native (Warren High School) holds career averages of 16.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 57 games with Austin, Wisconsin Herd, and Motor City Cruise.

“He was great in camp. The numbers game was the only reason why he wasn’t on a two-way at the start of the season,” said Mitch Johsnon. “He’s had a great season for them (Austin) so far. You have a guy like that who’s 6-7, athletic, with the defensive mindset. That’s a pretty good mix. It’d be hard to say no, right?”

CELEBRATING WORLD BASKETBALL DAY

Recently, the Spurs and Spurs Sports Academy hosted a series of youth events to celebrate World Basketball Day, highlighting basketball’s global impact through skill development, culture, and community.

The pair of events featured a Spurs Fundamental Holiday Camp, presented by Ledger, which included a full-day youth camp centered on basketball fundamentals, cultural connection, and World Basketball Day themes. Each participant received a camp jersey and two Spurs game tickets.

The other event was the Spurs Jr. NBA -Jr. WNBA League All-Star Weekend, also presented by Ledger, which gave an NBA-style experience at the Spurs Impact Center. The Coyote helped launch and support the Skills Challenge, with the weekend closing with awards, photos, and recognition moments celebrating individual accomplishments and the unifying spirit of World Basketball Day.
