“I’m honored to be appointed by President Trump as the first Chief Design Officer of the United States of America,” posted Gebbia on social media.
SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Spurs strategic partner Joe Gebbia (co-founder of Airbnb) has announced on social media that he has taken a position with the Trump Administration, where he will serve as Chief Design Officer for the new National Design Studio.
I’m honored to be appointed by President Trump as the first Chief Design Officer of the United States of America.
My directive is to update today’s government services to be as satisfying to use as the Apple Store: beautifully designed, great user experience, run on modern software. An experience that projects a level of excellence for our nation, and makes life less complicated for everyday Americans.
I’d like to thank President Trump and his administration for creating this vision, and supporting America by Design. I will do my best to make the U.S. the most beautiful, and useable, country in the digital world.
In his role, Gebbia will help make the federal government’s websites more user-friendly as part of an executive order that President Donald Trump recently signed, titled “Improving Our Nation Through Better Design.”
He was announced as a Spurs partner in January 2022.
