Spurs partner with Sprite; Austin Spurs make roster moves

Sprite and the Spurs unveil a unique collaboration with limited-edition cans, and former Spur Riley Minix is headed to a new G League team.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs and Sprite are partnering on a new limited-edition, co-branded can now available to all fans.

The cans are now available for purchase at select retailers across the Spurs market, including San Antonio, Austin, Corpus Christi, McAllen, and Laredo, and the launch will be celebrated with the special Sprite-Spurs game day tour, popping up at select upcoming home games.

“We’re proud to continue building basketball culture and fandom with the San Antonio Spurs through this collaboration,” said Terika Fasakin, Senior Brand Director for Sprite at The Coca-Cola Company, in a release. “Basketball has always been part of Sprite’s DNA, and this limited-edition can allows us to celebrate the Spurs, the city of San Antonio, and the fans who bring the energy and excitement on and off the court.”

The Sprite-Spurs game day tour experience will be available to fans at Frost Bank Center during select Spurs home games. The experience will include a premium customized poster giveaway, photo opportunities, and product sampling. Fans can enter the “Sprite Squad Basketball Sweepstakes,” now open for entries by texting THIRST to 2653 and scanning their Sprite, for a chance to win prizes such as Spurs game tickets or autographed team basketballs and jerseys.

AUSTIN SPURS MAKE ROSTER MOVES

The Austin Spurs announced that they have acquired the returning player rights to guard Donovan Williams from the Westchester Knicks. In exchange, the Knicks receive a first- and second-round pick in the 2027 NBA G League Draft from the Cleveland Charge, as well as the returning player rights to Paul Zilinskas from Austin. 

In a subsequent move, the Charge received the returning player rights to former San Antonio two-way player Riley Minix from the Spurs.
