Spurs’ potential picks from Dylan Harper to Thomas Sorber spark intrigue

Is Georgetown’s Thomas Sorber on the Spurs’ radar at pick No. 14?

SAN ANTONIO — It is NBA Draft Day 2025, and the San Antonio Spurs hold Nos. 2 and 14 on Wednesday night in the first round.

Here’s the latest rumblings surrounding the Spurs ahead of tonight’s first round of the draft.

Georgetown’s Thomas Sorber:

According to NJ.com, the Spurs are among the teams interested in Sorber.

The 6-foot-10 Trenton, N.J. native has attracted interest from the Atlanta Hawks (which pick at Nos. 13 and 22) and San Antonio Spurs (No. 14) — the last two picks in the lottery.

Sorber (6-10) averaged 14.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks last season. He’s extremely strong and physical and has an array of jump hooks and floaters near the rim.

He could help address the team’s need for big man depth next season.

Harper enjoyed his visits to San Antonio

At NBA Draft Media Day 2025, the presumed No. 2 pick for the Spurs spoke about visiting the team ahead of draft night.

Joan Beringer worked out with the Spurs

French big man Joan Beringer says he worked out with the Spurs and admitted it was a tough one.

Scouting reports describe Beringer (18 years old) as explosive with elite length and long-term upside. He is listed at 6-foot-10 with a 7-foot-3 wingspan and quick athleticism. However, he is a project player.

CBS Sports also mentions the Spurs are targeting Duke’s Khaman Maluach, but many mock boards have the center being selected ahead of the Spurs’ No. 14 pick. The team will have to move up in the draft, trade for him, or hope he falls to them in the draft.
