SAN ANTONIO — Former Spurs first-round pick Jeremy Sochan has been released by the team, NBA Insider Shams Charania says.
Sochan was the ninth overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft and played for the Spurs for four years before being released Wednesday. After his rookie year he made the 2022-23 All-Rookie 2nd team after averaging 11 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists.
This season Sochan has seen career-lows across the board only averaging 12.8 minutes a game in 28 games, putting up averages of 4.1 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.0 assist.
After not being able to find a trade partner during this season’s trade deadline, the Spurs decided to release Sochan to become a free agent. Sochan is expected to decide among multiple interested teams, Charania says.
