Spurs reportedly ‘not aggressive’ in pursuit of Durant; Wembanyama shows off side kick at his Shaolin training

San Antonio takes a conservative stance in Durant trade talks with Phoenix, according to a report & Wemby shows off kicking skills before leaving China.

SAN ANTONIO — It’s another day, which means more San Antonio Spurs-Kevin Durant trade rumors abound.

It’s been reported that there is mutual interest between the Spurs and Durant, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania; however, the Spurs “have not been the aggressive team” in trade talks with the Suns for the All-Star forward.

Charania reported on Tuesday on “The Pat McAfee Show” that the Spurs have not been as aggressive in their pursuit of Durant compared to teams reportedly in the mix.

“But the Spurs have had a level of interest. Would I say that they’re among the leaders right now? No, I wouldn’t,” he said.

“That’s not to say that they don’t have interest in Kevin Durant. They do. And potentially they would make an offer, and I’m sure they have discussed different frameworks, but what the other teams are offering is just a little bit more aggressive.”

This comes from a recent report from The Athletic, stating that Durant’s preferred next NBA stop, if traded, would be the Spurs.

“[T]he Timberwolves were made aware that he prefers to play elsewhere  – specifically, league sources say, the Spurs,” The Athletic reports.

However, The Athletic also reported that the Spurs are being “conservative” in their chase for Durant.

The next NBA home for Durant has been a hot topic this offseason, and a recent report from ESPN’s Shams Charania names the San Antonio Spurs as a possible landing spot, among other teams.

ESPN’s Shams Charania also reported that the Spurs are not the primary focus in trades, with Miami, Houston, and Minnesota being the target teams.

“Miami, Houston, and Minnesota is where the focus of the Suns’ conversations are for Kevin Durant,” he said.

Durant, 36, has one year left on his deal ($54.7 million). He averaged 26.6 points, along with 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists, in 62 games last year, and was named an All-Star, demonstrating his impact as a player despite his relatively young age.

What trade package might San Antonio send to the Suns? Names like Devin Vassell, Jeremy Sochan, and Keldon Johnson are the likely candidates to get traded, as are any of the Spurs draft picks, including this summer’s No. 14 pick at the 2025 NBA Draft.

Adding Durant to the Spurs would be a boost, but are the Spurs willing to part with key players and draft assets that are key in the franchise’s current rebuild?

WEMBY SHOWS OFF HIS NEW KICKS

Spurs All-Star Victor Wembanyama continues his Shaolin training in China, and in the latest update, it seems he has learned how to do a martial arts-style kick.

He is also making a cucumber look like a twig in a recent photo.

Since joining the monks, he has shaved his head, dressed in traditional monk robes, and gone jogging with them to maintain his physical shape.

So far this offseason, Wemby has made a stop in Costa Rica and toured the Great Wall of China.

The Spurs center is now off to New York City to participate in Fanatics Fest 2025, where he will join several elite athletes, including Durant.
