DYLAN HARPER UNDERSTANDS HIS TIME WILL COME IN THE NBA
Rookie Dylan Harper may not get heavy minutes on the court this season or be the “go-to” guy on the roster immediately.
And he is completely okay with that and understands his time to shine in the league will come in time, even if he has to come off the bench.
“Everyone got to wait for their turn. That’s how I kind of look at it,” said Harper to the 7 PM In Brooklyn podcast.
Harper expressed that he looks to James Harden and his experience coming off the bench with the Thunder as an example of how to handle his first season.
“You’re not going to get the keys all day. James Harden was with the Thunder and came off the bench, sixth man for 3-4 years waiting for his turn, so everyone gotta wait for their turn.”
He averaged 19.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.4 steals in his lone season at Rutgers. He played two games at the 2025 Vegas Summer League and averaged 16.0 points per game, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists.
“He’s got a rare confidence, with humility,” Spurs General Manager Brian Wright said about Harper on Wednesday night. “He’s a very down-to-earth, simple kid who loves basketball. After spending time with him through the process, you can tell he knows he’s a good basketball player. But he wants to be part of a team.”
