Spurs sign veteran center Bismack Biyombo to 10-day contract

A 13-year veteran, Biyombo was drafted in 2011 by the Sacramento Kings with the 7th overall pick.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs have signed veteran big man Bismack Biyombo to a 10-day contract.

The acquisition, first reported by NBA Insider Chris Haynes, was made official by the team Sunday afternoon.

Biyombo was drafted seventh overall in the 2011 NBA Draft to the Sacramento Kings before he was traded to the then-Charlotte Bobcats.

Known for his defense and rebounding ability, Biyombo split time playing for Memphis and Oklahoma City last season, averaging 4.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.1 blocks a game in 40 appearances.

He also used to play with Spurs point guard Chris Paul in Phoenix from 2021-2023.

The move comes after it was reported that Spurs backup center Charles Bassey was out with a left MCL strain.
