Spurs’ Sochan suffers broken thumb, set for surgery

The Spurs announced the forward suffered the injury in the team’s match vs. the Clippers.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs have announced that forward Jeremy Sochan suffered a left thumb fracture in the team’s recent match against the Clippers and will undergo surgery.

The team also said it would give updates as they are available.

A friend of Locked On Spurs, Dr. Ryan McCorkle, opines that this type of injury, coupled with surgery, might push Sochan away from the court for up to six weeks.

However, with the Spurs putting players’ health first, it would not be surprising if the team kept him out longer.

Sochan was having a breakout year, averaging 15.4 points per game, including 7.7 rebounds and 3.0 rebounds.

Before the injury, he had a 109.0 defensive rating, 43 steals, and 23 blocks, and his ability to defend multiple positions was key in the Spurs’ hot defensive start to the season.
