The Spurs aim to rebound from their two-game losing skid.
SAN ANTONIO — Wins have not been coming to the San Antonio Spurs frequently, but the team did give the East-leading Cavaliers all they could handle before losing 124-116 Thursday night.
And rookie Stephon Castle is eager to move forward and erase the sour taste of losing with the defending NBA champions, Boston Celtics, coming into San Antonio Saturday night.
“You have a bad game. You get the luxury of a quick turnaround,” Castle said following the team’s road loss to Cleveland.
It’s not just a close loss the Spurs will look to erase. The team is on a two-game losing skid and have lost five straight against the Celtics.
In addition, Castle’s shot against the Cavs was off (9-24), so the rookie guard will also be looking to bounce back and appreciates the quick return to the court.
“To be able to bounce back from a tough loss like this is definitely a luxury for us,” he said.
The Spurs have been playing every other night (2-2 in their last four games) and will continue to do so for the remainder of the season. Two back-to-backs will be mixed in before the end of the season, including a match against the Warriors on Sunday night.
San Antonio will have its work cut out for them. The team is 18-28 this season with one day rest and averages 113.0 points per game.
CASTLE HITS 1,000 POINTS
Against the Cavs, Castle hit the 1,000-point milestone, becoming the first NBA rookie this season to hit that mark.
