Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama just made NBA history — again

The latest accomplishment for the 21-year-old is becoming the first player to achieve a certain all-around stat line in Monday’s game against Chicago.

SAN ANTONIO — Another game, another accomplishment for the Spurs’ 21-year-old French superstar.

Victor Wembanyama has started the 2025-26 season putting up career numbers so far. In his 10 games, in which the Spurs have gone 8-2, he’s averaged 25.7 points, 12.8 rebounds and a league-leading 3.9 blocks, all career highs.

In Monday’s win over the Bulls, Wemby might’ve had his best all-around game, putting up a stat line of 38 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, five blocks and six 3-pointers.

He also became the first player in NBA history to record at least 35 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, five 3-pointers and five blocks in a single game.

The only other person who’s even came close? Guess who.

On Feb. 7, 2024, Wemby put up 33 points, 18 rebounds, six assists, seven blocks and hit five 3-pointers against the 76ers, narrowly missing the 35-point mark.

If you lower the scoring threshold to 25 points, he’s still the only player ever to hit those marks. On Feb. 29, 2024, Wembanyama tallied 28 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists, five blocks and five 3-pointers against the Jazz.

So there have been three performances in NBA history where a player put up at least 25 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, five three pointers and five blocks in a game, and all three were Wemby.

Becoming the “first” to do something has already become routine for the Spurs phenom.

He became the first Spurs player to score 40 in an NBA regular-season opener in his first game this season.

In his first year, Wembanyama became the first rookie in NBA history to win first team All-Defensive honors, as well as the youngest in league history.

On Feb 12, 2024, he became the first player to post 25 points, grab 10 rebounds, block 10 shots and make two three-pointers in a game against the Raptors. He also added five assists in that game.

These are only a few examples of how unique of a player Wembanyama is. The league has never seen a player who can score at an elite level while also blocking shots and hitting threes at this rate. Not to mention his underrated passing ability and rebounding prowess.

And he’s only 21.

Something tells me this won’t be the last “first” for the third-year superstar.
