Spurs’ Wembanyama to take part in animated show ‘Alien Dunk’; Austin Spurs fans hilariously mess up team’s opponents’ names

Victor Wembanyama stars in a new French cartoon series, “Alien Dunk,” blending basketball and space adventures.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Spurs‘ Victor Wembanyama is set to participate in a new French-based cartoon series appropriately named “Alien Dunk.”

According to Variety, the Spurs center is the star of the series and will be joined by his sister, Eve, in a space basketball series.

“Seeing myself animated is an incredible experience, and it brings together two things I love: basketball and space,” he said. “[T]he most exciting part is creating a universe for kids to enjoy, filled with fun, imagination, and inspiration for young fans all over the world.”

Variety also reports that Wembanyama is involved in creative sessions with the production team and participated in motion capture shoots to reproduce his signature moves and mannerisms.

“Victor is an ‘alien’ not only for his exceptional athletic abilities but also for the positive values he embodies off the court,” said Philippe and Guillaume Soutter’s PGS Entertainment. “These qualities make him a natural animated hero and the perfect centerpiece for ‘Alien Dunk.’ His involvement gives the series a unique authenticity, and we are genuinely excited to bring this new universe to life.”

The animated series will feature Wemby and friends competing in the Starball League, an intergalactic version of basketball, and will aim to preserve peace throughout the universe.

The new cartoon series aims to develop a universe that encompasses video games, web shorts, publishing, and more.
