Victor Wembanyama works out alongside NBA Draft prospect Maxime Raynaud.
SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Spurs‘ Victor Wembanyama and 2025 NBA Draft prospect and fellow Frenchman Maxime Raynaud recently worked out together.
First, it seems Wemby is comfortable enough to return to the court despite his blood clot issues, which sidelined him for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.
Also, it seems Wemby continues to get taller and muscular. Raynaud is listed at 7-1, and the Spurs center towers over the NBA hopeful.
One Spurs fan even measured the height difference and posted that Wemby is nearing 7-7, which seems impossible.
Raynaud and Wemby are good friends, and they even met to play a game of chess.
Raynaud’s NBA Draft projection varies. Some mock drafts list him as a late first-round pick or early second-round pick, while others slot him as a possible late first-round pick.
The Spurs own the Nos. 2 and 14 picks, and the team could pick him at 14, but that might be too high for the French big man. Maybe the Spurs can select him in the second round. However, he would help the Spurs’ lack of big man depth, and adding him to the roster might make Wemby happy.
CASTLE WORKS WITH “THE GUARD WHISPERER”
Spurs’ Stephon Castle is not wasting time this offseason and is working with “The Guard Whisperer,” Olin Simplis, on his perimeter shot.
Simplis shared a video of Castle working on his shot on social media. In the footage, the Rookie of the Year is learning to make his midrange shots while a defender is on him, drives to the post, and take bumps while shooting the ball. He is also working on his three-point shot.
Castle’s shot needs improvement. He averaged 14.7 points per game across 81 games but made 42.8% (423 out of 989 attempts) of his field goal shots and 28.7% from the three-point line. Early in the 2024-25 season, his three-point percentage was subpar at around 28% to 29%.
