State Fair of Texas Log Ride to roll into retirement after 40 years

The popular ride was first introduced at the fair in 1986.

DALLAS — The popular Log Ride at the State Fair of Texas is set to make its final splash at the end of the 2025 season.

The ride at the Midway at the State Fair of Texas was first introduced to the fair in 1986, and it’s made a splash with generations of families ever since.

“The Log Ride has been a cherished part of the State Fair experience for decades,” said Rusty Fitzgerald, senior vice president of midway operations with the State Fair of Texas. “As we look to the future of the Fair, we want to honor the role it has played in bringing joy and excitement to our guests. This season, we encourage everyone to take one last ride and celebrate the memories made along the way.”

The fair says that while the popular ride is set to close, the fair says it’s “committed to providing new experiences that carry on its mission of celebrating all things Texan.”

The State Fair of Texas says it will share plans for additional attractions and improvements in the future.

The 2025 State Fair of Texas at Fair Park runs Friday, September 26, through Sunday, October 19, which will be the last time visitors will get to ride the Log Ride
