SAN ANTONIO — San Antonians who love “Stranger Things” can step into the Upside Down this weekend during a free, two-day 1980s-themed fan event at Wonderland of the Americas mall.
The “Upside Down 80’s” event is set for Jan. 10 and 11, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. Admission and parking are free.
Hosted by the Kings of Horror, the event brings together cast guests, vendors, live performances and immersive photo opportunities inspired by the hit Netflix series.
Several actors from “Stranger Things” are scheduled to appear, including Shannon Purser (Barb), Randy Havens (Mr. Clarke) and Regina Ting Chen (Ms. Kelly). Autographs and selfies with celebrity guests will be available for an additional cost.
According to a post by the Kings of Horror, a portion of the event includes access to immersive photo experiences and themed installations inside the mall. Entry into select areas requires a $10 fee, unless visitors purchase one of the event’s bundled packages.
That fee also includes unlimited play at the Palace Arcade and a live performance by Aidan Fisher, who served as Eddie Munson’s guitar double during Season 4.
Organizers say the event will feature costume contests, pop-up arcades, themed vendors and multiple photo booths all designed to recreate the nostalgia of the hit -show.
“We’re bringing you a fan created event you’ll never forget,” Kings of Horror said in a social media post announcing the lineup. “What better place than a mall to bring you those “Starcourt” vibes!”
