Stone Oak area ATM emptied and destroyed, police say

Officers arrived at the Chase Bank in the Stone Oak area to find the bank machine bashed open and the money gone.

SAN ANTONIO — Police are searching for the suspects who demolished an ATM and stole all of the money inside early Tuesday morning.

San Antonio Police responded to the Chase Bank located near Stone Oak Parkway and Evans Road on the north side of town around 4:30 a.m. for reports of a theft.

By the time police got to the location, the suspects and the money from inside the cash machine were gone.

Based on the information gathered, there were multiple unknown suspects that used a truck to pull out the drive-thru ATM from the cement base. The suspects then broke into the ATM and stole the money drawers, then fled the scene.

The damaged ATM was left abandoned at the scene.

Officers say the stolen truck that was used for the theft was found abandoned nearby.  Police recovered the stolen vehicle, but didn;t find any suspects.

This investigation remains on going.

This is a developing story.
