‘Stranger Danger’ reminder from Schertz PD amid search for suspect who tried ‘enticing’ 10-year-old girl

Officers are still searching for the suspect and believe this is an isolated incident. But Schertz PD says it serves as a stranger danger reminder for parents.

SCHERTZ, Texas — The Schertz Police Department is searching for a “suspicious individual” who tried to get a 10-year-old girl to walk with him before she ultimately sought help from neighbors, according to officials.

Around 4 p.m. Wednesday, Schertz PD responded to the 1000 block of Red Cedar Cover after receiving reports of the suspicious man. Police said the man, identified by witnesses as wearing a black shirt and blue jeans, tried to “entice” the young girl to join him, but she went to a neighbor’s home when she didn’t recognize him.

Officers arrived on the scene and were still looking for a suspect as of Wednesday evening.

“While this incident appears to be isolated, it serves as a reminder of ‘Stranger Danger’ and highlights an important conversation that parents need to have with their children,” Schertz PD said in a release.

Anyone who lives in or around the area is urged to check security cameras and call Schertz PD at (210) 619-1200 if you have any information related to this incident.
